The New Old Time Chautauqua

There are so many things in our world that need attention — sustainability, thinking local, healthy food,
climate change — and we think the important business
of re-educating ourselves has got to be fun, too.
Mixed in with all the interesting and innovative ideas at
the Great Peninsula Future Festival, we
will offer whimsy and humor through
music, juggling, magic, aerial, acrobatics
and comedy.

In confusing and challenging times,
laughter, friendship and mirth are some
of the main ingredients of a nourishing
meal for tired and care-worn spirits.
We are honored to serve up "food for
the soul."

Alice Stuart and the Formerlys

Alice Stuart and the Formerlys are
all pro veterans of the music industry.
After her folk career, mostly as a solo artist,
and a brief stint with Frank Zappa, Alice formed
formed Snake with Bob Jones and Karl Sevareid
from the band Southern Comfort. They
joined Alice on her 2nd album for Fantasy
Records, "Believing" and remained with her
until she dropped out of music for 20 years
to raise her children. Her current band,
The Formerlys, includes bassist Marc Willett,
who has played with many well-known
NW groups, i.e., The Kingsmen,
The Rangehoods, and Stolen Ogre as well
as many others. Drummer, Rick Boice, has
played in many of these same bands with
Marc since Jr. High School. Keyboardist, Steven Flynn, is a much sought after keyboard & session musician. They are a dynamic mixture.   http://www.alicestuart.com/

Steffan Soule Environmental Magic

Steffan Soule presents The Magic of Recycling and The Magic of Our Water sponsored by Kitsap County Solid Waste Division and Kitsap WaterFestival Planning Team. http://www.SteffanSoule.com/

Whistlin' Oysters

Sea Shanties and Irish Pub music. The Whistlin Oysters provide a mix of hand clapping foot stomping traditional Irish pub music, seafaring and pirate songs, poignant ballads, lively jigs and reels with audience participation encouraged.

Jo Walter

In our culture where images arrive fast and furious from television screens, our imaginations blossom when we are invited to make up our own pictures by listening to the words of a well told tale. http://www.jowalter.org/

Raging Grannies

Songs to make you think and that will tickle your funnybone about the Hood Canal, the Puget Sound cleanup, global warming, buy local and other relevant subjects.

Skip Morris Trio

Skip Morris has been singing and playing jazz since he was seven years old--this truly American form of music has embedded itself in his DNA. But rather than playing the same songs in the same way everyone else does, Skip and pianist George Radebaugh have taken a new path--their original compositions and fresh arrangements of great jazz and popular standards offer a new slant and a new sound.

NW Raptor Center

A daily show celebrating an assortment of resident raptors that have been offically designated as educational birds. Mesmerizing and awe inspiring. www.nwraptorcenter.org

Tune Stranglers

A-hoopin' and a-hollerin' straight outta Olympia, Washington, the Tune Stranglers kick out the old school western swing like a-nobody's bee's wax! We're talking music from the early days folks, when a washboard provided rhythm, the guitar and fiddle were hot, a banjo had no more than four strings, and the vocals were sweet and driving. Y'all come! http://www.tunestranglers.com/

Average D'Joes

The Average D’Joes are a local 4-piece acoustic combo that plays old Jazz and Swing standards in the style of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club Quintet of Paris.

FIN the Migrating Salmon
(Onchorhynchus bodacius gigantius)

FIN, a 25-foot femail chum salmon is part of N.O.S.C.'s salmon education and outreach program. She is 25 feet long and 13 feet high. Who knew learning could be this much fun! http://www.nosc.org/resources/fin.html

Common Ancestor

A combination of Reggae, Soul and Funk influenced by Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix and Otis Redding. Common Ancestor calls Port Orchard home. http://www.myspace.com/commonancestor
